Healer Monk Suggestions (PVE)
Hi, most of what I could find in this forum was about imonks
So, I wanna build a healing monk for pve play, and I especially hope to get him in Underworld with a Barrage team.
So here is a few questions to any healers:
1. What is a good secondary profession for a healer?
2. What armor is best, I was thinking about tattoos?
3. Any good collector/Green weapons I should know about for healers?
Finally, if anybody got a tested build which work fine in PVE I would appreciate if you could post it.
PS: Sorry if these are newbie questions, I have never really played monk before

i got a build that works good for me (healing: PvP and PvE)
1. open slot, pick any other good skill (i use remove hex)
2. healing touch (will heal yourself! )
3. Heal party (always nice to have)
4. Word of Healing (it's nice if you're low on energy)
5. healing breeze (if you're getting poisond or what)
6. heal other ( if WoH is recharcing)
7. orison of healing (just a quick heal)
8. restore life (for PvP res sig for quick res.)
atributes
healing: 16 (12+3+1(atr. + sup rune + scalp))
divine: 15 (12 + 3)
and then put the rest on something you like...

In (pve) tombs, I like to avoid enchants altogther on my monk, so my build looks something like this:
Touch
Orison
Word
Kiss
Mend Ailment (Or Mend Condition)
Heal Party
Sig of Devotion
Rebirth
Just about any weapon will work, but I like to use +hp gear in tombs. Be sure to have weapon swaps.

The classic healing build is the Mo/Mes but anything can do as toon don't really have to use your secoundary.Asethetics are good for enrgy and a good focus icon is good as well.It really doesn't matter to much about the weapon and use minor runes. This is a good thread fpr some builds but it is a little outdated from the latest update.

I like monk/ranger for kiting skills and melandru's resilance. A mesmer can shatter your MoR, OoB got the nerf bat and just sucks when your name is next on the gank list, PnH is only good when you use it on other monks and can be stripped and still needs a boost, WoH is pretty good, I used to use it in place of resiliance (pre-buff), ViM owns everything else if you got trappers on your team (plus balanced stance is in tactics, which would save you damage while kiting and gale locks, and so is bonetti's defense), energy drain would be OK if it had 20 second recharge, since if you use it on an enemy monk running OoB, it makes that half as effective while getting you an OK amount of energy. My 2 favorite secondaries for monk are warrior and ranger, because against an e-denial mesmser, besides switching to a negative energy thing while you're getting burned and spellbreaker/obsidian flesh, there isn't much you can do about them, and mesmer + necro secondaries sure as hell don't have much in inspiration or blood magic thats a feasable counter for monks against warriors, eles, and rangers. Mo/W running ViM is not that bad, even in random arena with all the noob poison arrow rangers and bleeding/deepwounded warriors chasing you around, plus you get balanced stance and bonettis. Mo/R, melandru's resiliance, only thing that can end that is wildblow, so that dom mes is screwed, plus you have storm chaser which is kiting and pretty good e-management all in one, and dryder's defenses for when you're just seriously screwed.
EDIT: Wait this is for PvE LMAO, I guess any build that doesn't rely too much on enchants would do good, because later in the game enchants get stripped before you even see the yellow arrow and you get interupted like hell -_-

Why LMAO at PvE Monks? They don't use many enchants anyway and they work as hard or depending on the mission harder than PvP Monks.

Age- you seem a little touchy. I think his "LMAO" was because his entire post had to do with PvP. That's why he has the edit in there.
As far as a secondary, I think Mesmer or Warrior can work well in a PvE environment for a Monk primary. Most of your skills will be monk and I think either one of these will give you a nice option for some defense and/or energy management on your skill bar.

PvE Monks are integral characaters. You'll always have a party waiting for you
Anyhow, here's my tips:
1 - Take cheap spammable 5 energy heals. Pump heal/divine favor. The big big spells are not actually worth while. Spot heals are what keeps your party alive.
2 - If you need a major heal, use something that works well (heal area for example, can be a great way to recover even if you heal an opponent, who cares so long as the entire party just survived something).
3 - Don't over heal. Don't just spam your heals on someone who's scratched. In other words, if your warrior has a tiny dent, don't heal him. Heal only when you know you're not going to overheal him.
4 - For your secondary, who cares! Whatever you think you want to learn skills for. A solid hearler doesn't need anything but recovery and heals and res. So your secondary skills are prtty much... well, not important. The only thing I can imagine you may need eventually, is some kind of interrupt for various fights, but even then, it's not neccessary outside of PvP.
A small example of skills:
1 - Orison of Healing
2 - Kiss of Dwanya (heals for a load when your party is hexed)
3 - Healing Breeze
4 - Healing Touch (this is your panic button for self heals)
5 - Signet of Devotion (free heal, helps to manage energy)
6 - Peace & Harmony (this comes later, but it really helps spam)
7 - Purge Conditions (great way to clean up)
8 - Rebirth (you shouldn't be resing until after battle anyways)
Cheers!
